Ingredients

  • 12 oz or 1 1/2 cups of almond butter (no sugar or oil added – I recommend 365 brand)
  • 2 green apples
  • 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes for sprinkling on top (optional)
  • Sea salt for sprinkling on top (optional)
  • Handful of chopped almonds for sprinkling on top (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line: Line 12″x9″ baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  2. Prep: Dice 2 green apples and spread over lined pan.
  3. Melt almond butter: Melt 1 1/2 cups almond butter by heating in the microwave for 10-30 seconds or on the stovetop for 30-60s. Spread melted almond butter over apples. Sprinkle with 1 tsp cinnamon.
  4. Freeze: Freeze bars for 1 hour. (You can skip this step, but freezing does make spreading the chocolate easier).
  5. Melt chocolate: Add 2/3 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 tbsp coconut oil to a small sauce pan and melt over low heat. Once heated, pour chocolate over bars and spread with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle with coconut flakes, sea salt, and chopped almonds if desired.
  6. Freeze: Freeze bars for 1 hour.
  7. Plate: Slice into 16 bars. Enjoy or save for later!
